Little Seedling vs Map Pieces

Is it just my imagination, that as a little seedling, you'll have a lower chance of getting the map pieces? After I have graduated, I'll usually get 0 to 1 map piece per day. Hush, and now you know how I fared as a little seedling. =_=" I don't think it's because I stayed in ports most of the time, since I did not finish all the courses in one stretch. Anyone else that shared my experience?
