Koei Talks Online Strategy

According to the news published by RPGFan on 2 February 2006,

At the same time, Koei is thinking about releasing an expansion disc for its second MMORPG Daikoukai Jidai Online (Uncharted Waters Online) featuring additional sea areas and cities. A starter pack is also in the pipeline. After purchasing this pack, players will only need to enter a serial number to open up their own account and start playing. Afterwards, they can try out Daikoukai Jidai Online 44 days for free.

Does this expansion disc and the starter pack aim for the Japan or US? Let's us look at the Japan's starter pack. You'd get a serial number and 44 days free gaming too. Could it be that this starter pack that is in the pipeline is aimed at the US and the expansion disc is for the Japan? Could it be that Koei plans to carry out everything themselves?

As previously announced, Koei is still looking at bringing the game to North America and Europe. While America was a rather big market for MMO games, Europe would only develop into a big market in the future. For 2006, Matsuhara aims at further expanding Koei's online business in the Asia-Pacific region and ready two more online games.
Besides that, chances of the game hitting US is much higher than it hitting Europe. But will it be scheduled for this year? Asia Pacific sorts of include the US too, right? If it's scheduled for this year, then news should get out at the coming E3.

Koei will release Great Voyage Online Windows MMORPG box "Great Voyage Online Starter Pack" on February 23rd. Price is 6,040yen ($58).

The "Great Voyage Online Starter Pack" includes a CD-ROM of the game client, upgrade ticket, and 30 day play ticket (a total of 44 days including free trial). Also it includes a "letter set" (?), Sailor's Guidebook, and new voyage map with the new cities on them.

Laziness sets in ...
This part explains how the total value of the above package is around 7000 yen ($68).

THis next section says you can buy the starter package even if you choose to download the game.
