Taiwan Benchmark Scores

Even though a lot of people have stated that their benchmark scores are quite high, with many in the 600 to 700 range, I have not really feel the connection. You can guess I really raised my eyebrow when I first run the benchmark using the default settings.

Default Settings

My scores raised from 60+ using my last comp to 600+ in the new comp. I certainly didn't get a comp that is 10 times better than my last one. Did an ATI X300 128MB change everything so much or has the rate been changed?

After many rounds of playing with my settings, I settled with the score below.

Customized Settings

Even though with a 700+ score, if I watch closely, I can still see how the graphics generation changes sometimes. A few more days and we shall see whether the scores will prove itself.

p/s I LOVE the sea scenes, how the waters open for the ships and the waves splashes. Beautiful!

Update:
How silly of me! I could have just compare the results of the two benchmark programs and see for myself whether there is any changes whatsoever. So there you go.

Taiwan benchmark at maximum settings:
Taiwan Benchmark Max Settings

Japan benchmark at maximum settings:
Japan Benchmark Max Settings

So both are the same. It's just that I feel an enormous difference with the change of a computer. By the way, I can't believe I'll be saying this, but the travel speed for the ships is so slow! Oh dear, I'm supposed to notice this only after quite some time actually playing the game! And the characters jog run so slowly!

Speaking of travel speed..

I just got myself a Dhowe. It's so nice & fast compared. I went from Cyprus -> Sicily in about 15 days where normally it may take 23-30 days. ^^;

I also put two expensive jibs on it and raised the latin speed by 15 per sail. So now I'm close to having a speed of 300. My speed would be a lot more if Otto had been able to build Dhowes and outfit them with a Tique build.

Tique is the fastest wood to use and the second strongest, but is only available in Islamic countries. The Dhowe as well. Maybe to satisfy this urge I'll go play myfriend's character on NOTOS & build a Tique dhowe myself with his Rank 5 shipbuilding.

I've seen the animation so many times that I'm now starting to notice how the ships "float" up and down in the water due to its weight. I suppose you have the "Control Sail" skill and "Sailing" skill? I'm gonna get those two if possible. :D

Yeah the Explorer's class skill is dirty. I translated it "Autosail" because that's what it does.

The best thing to do is start out as explorer, then get a merchant to give you a merchant job to switch your class. But that may not be possible in the closed beta...

From what people posted in forums, A LOT (I mean really A LOT) of people are interested in playing Soldiers (Pirates actually). So maybe it would be easier to get someone to help me swith to Soldier for some of the skills. Merchants and Explorers are not that popular, or so it seems.

p/s Can I get the pass to change back to merchant first before I change to another class and later use the pass to change back to merchant?

I believe they are one time use items. So you would need to find the special quest to do it again to get the pass for the merchant, soldier, or explorer classes.

So meaning I have to proceed in this order:
a. get quest for desired class
b. change to desired class and do the necessary stuff there
c. get quest for original class
d. change back to original class

So the order cannot be c, a, b and d?

I think you can do that.

well..there is a trick when u just started to play..
when u r not yet a proper explorer/merchant/soilder..
u can share the first quests from others..which are extremely easy.
And if u volunteer to help new beginers out..its really easy to get them to share their quests with u.
by doing that within a day u can have more than enuf no. of each jobs' consent things(not sure how to call them :P) and with them u can start easy life with alot of skills in hand. Or save some for later..:P
Well..only works for new beginers thou..:)

anyway..hope it is helpful to some ppl

ps. DO NOT change ur class before u have enuf no. of consents. Once u r not a apprentice there is no way u can get shared those easy quests..:P
