Recruit-a-Friend for World of Warcraft

Digg posted Blizzard's latest move to get new subscribers through their current userbase: get a free 10-day trial key from the current userbase, if you sign up, the key donar get one month free! The downside is, you need to find the installer yourself.

Getting new customers through a referral program is nothing new. In fact, for software companies that offer free trials (hint, hint), a referral program could be even easier. Just add a new field for first-time payment to get the referrer's username. You don't even need to set up a system to send out and track trial keys. The carrot needs not be one month, a ten-day or even a one-week would do too.

Then let's see if anyone will succumb to peer pressure. :D
