Let Us into Your Loop

with 2 flag signals and 0 trackbacks.

I was just poking around the net and came across Pirates Ahoy!, a site dedicated to pirates-related games. There were a few old posts on GVO. Posters had reported that their email requests got no response (here and here), as what I myself had experienced first hand.

It is the usual norm for businesses to keep silence, for whatever reasons that only they themselves believe. Release PR statements and news that are neutral, politically correct and lawyer-approved would not get you into hot water, but it's not good for you in the long run.

The concept that markets are conversations is real hot in the States right now. Envagelists are terrifying the old school with their revolutions. I'm sure the idea would reach Japan in its own course.

I don't ask Koei to straight to join in the conversation. It would be so suicide-like as in to ask them to run before they could even walk. Just start to let your customers, that's us, into your loop little by little, first by answering our calls and replying our mails.

When we took the time to call and write nice emails to you (at least I did write nice ones), doesn't that show that we care? You may not be able to release any info but at least a reply/thank you note would do nicely to let us know that there are people at the other end.

A reply that says sorry we could not release more info right now yet so please watch out for our news would be so much better than deadly silence. We know we are small fries, but please don't emphasize that to us.

Previously, if you do nothing, you may not grow your business, but you won't hurt it either. But today, you should take a look at how Dell unleashed Dell Hell upon Earth by doing nothing at all. I mean nothing!

Just set up an auto-response mail system first. Please.

2 Flag Signals

After E3 2005 my friend called up the contact number for KOEI USA to check in. He wanted to offer any help in translating and getting the game out to us sooner (mainly through me). He didn't get very far...

Oh gosh, Koei USA sounds so disjointed from mothership that I wonder whether it's because of the communication problem or indifferent staff of less requests less trouble attitude. I've also read that the reps at the E3 2005 booth had a couldn't care less attitude. These are not good for business.

Does Koei Japan know and care at all? Their image is being tainted little by little. If Koei is a person, we fans sure would feel like shaking him a lot.
