Koei 2006 US Line Up?

I'm not sure when did Koei update their line up list, but it still revealed some insight to Koei's focus.

For the PC line, there are three titles worth noting: Romance of the Three Kingdoms VIII with Power Up Kit, Taikorisshiden IV and Nobunaga's Ambition - Chronicles of Chaos. For the latter two, basing my assupmtion on the fact that there is no game forum for the two titles in the Koei Forum, I could conclude that no previous titles in the series have been released so far in the English versions. So we could say with some confidence that they won't appear next year too. So that leaves the Romance of the Three Kingdom VIII with Power Up Kit.

However the Japan Japanese site, Japan English site and the US English site have some really confusing information. What is the relationship and order between 三國志VIII, Romance of the Three Kingdoms VIII with Power Up Kit and the Romance of the Three Kingdoms® X? This is not a lesson on the history of Romance of the Three Kingdoms, so I didn't probe further. Maybe Koei will release an expansion pack for VIII, IX or X, or the Battlefield for the online version. Enough to say that 2006 would most probably see a release of this series.

So Koei would still focus on the video game market. Most probably continue to translate their cash cow series. But with the popularity of the video games, Koei could also introduce the PS2 version of the Nobunaga's Ambition Online. Nah, I still think Koei won't make such sudden introduction. Most probably they would just showcase NAO in E3 2006.

So with my previous speculation that GVO will come out in the second quarter, and that E3 2006 scheduled at 10-12 May 2006, this time Koei might just showcase the English version of the GVO and announce the beta testing dates.

Unless, of couse, if Koei decided to enter the US mobile gaming market and put their translation efforts there.

If I had to speculate I'd say that KOEI USA is not going to be in charge of GVO unless they bid for it. I'd say KOEI USA is out of the loop & the real insider information lies with business relations with KOEI home office, Overseas Division. If only I knew how to interview like a reporter.

You know, I really have to wonder, is it normal in the business world for branches in different countries to act like independent companies.

Or for Koei, it's just the Japan mother company and all the rest are just offices. If Koei wants to save on cost and expertise, they would just outsource everything.
