GVO: Through the Eyes of Nobunaga's Ambition Online
Well, I'm real *proud* to announce that after 40 hours ++ of download time, I managed to play Nobunaga's Ambition Online. Today I'll just elaborate on that one sentence alone.
For the GVO Japan version, I only need to download the small installer pointer and run it to download the actual installation files. Occasionally, during network jams, I need to press "Retry" to re-download broken parts. I left the job running and the next morning, it's done.
I hope no one will share the same experience as I did for the Nobunaga's Ambition Online. There are two ways to get the installation programs: CDs (through a number of ways) and download (from a few sources).
The two sources are similar with GVO: you purchase the CDs or you download the program. Seeing that I'm neither in Japan, Taiwan nor Hong Kong, I chose the latter. I'm sad to say that although there are a few sources of the http download, most of them are too slow (less than 0 kbps) for me.
The only source that can offer higher speed, however, is difficult to connect. The connection is frequently dropped and the speed varied. Even though people who download locally in Taiwan may not feel the pain, it is still an oversight. I can be considered as one of the overseas users for both versions!
So I hope when GVO does launch its overseas version (for both beta testing and full service), the following areas will be taken into accout:
- assume there will be users from overseas (think globally please)
- make sure that the download sources can offer reliable services both locally and internationally(I'll have more to complain about this but I'll spare you from my grumblings)
I hope I would spend a few more posts on interlinking my experience with Nobunaga's Ambition Online and GVO future launch.
